About

My name is Janette, and this is my blog.

I’m 27 years old, and I live in Austin, TX with my husband and 2 sons. For the most part, I am a “domestic engineer” because I don’t really like the sound of “homemaker.” Makes it sound like I dry my clothes on a line outside and bake pies and wear polka dots. I don’t do any of those things. Well, I have baked a pie or two in my lifetime. The other part of me works part-time to acquire some extra dough and goes to college. I am majoring in journalism, and hope to one day get paid to report the news with little to no spin. Or I can be a technical writer. Whatever pays.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, the internets, drawing, painting, playing the Sims 3, and watching god awful television shows. Music is really important in this household, as it is usually our background noise (aside from children’s programming.) My favorite band is Rush (yeah, I’m THAT kind of nerd) but we’ll also take some Opeth and Porcupine Tree. Or just about anything from the 90′s.

My personal philosophy is to live and let live. Don’t waste your energy worrying about how other people run their lives. Also, it’s just pizza. That one is a little cryptic, but very profound.

The zooThis is Vance

He’s about 30, and we have been married since March 3, 2007. He is a Production Supervisor, and the greatest one the world as ever known. He and I kind of look alike, but I assure you, we aren’t related. He enjoys playing video games, bead spriting, reading, Reddit, Netflix, and doing outdoorsy shit, like hiking and gardening. One day he wants to live on a big plot of land and raise chickens and grow food. I say that’s fine as long as he does all of the work that entails.

We have made two boys. Deven was born 9/16/07, making him about 5 years old. He is funny, hyper, stubborn, friendly, and cute. He enjoys preschool, Toy Story, flags, jumping, screaming, playing outside, his little brother, and just having fun. His birth story is located here.

The baby of the family is Archer, and he was born 4/14/11. He loves to run around and get into things he isn’t supposed to get into. He also loves toy cars and snuggling.  His birth story is right here.

With 2 sons, 2 pets, and countless electronics, the noise can get really overwhelming. But I would say this is the best type of chaos you can imagine living.
